Reidsville – Ruby Call Bennett, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior late Saturday evening June 11, 2016 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Vance Street Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Land officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Other times the family will be at the home of Mary and Willard Perdue. Burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Bennett was born September 29, 1922 to the late James William Cromer and Alvie Westmoreland and step mother, Effie Mae Cromer. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Ruby was a longtime and faithful member of Vance Street Baptist Church. Her hobbies included working in the yard and just being a servant and friend to many. She retired from the American Tobacco Company after 39 years of service. She was a participant at the Leaf Center in Eden in the latter years of her life, which she thoroughly enjoyed and her family was so thankful for.
Along with her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Bennett; son, Jerry Call, Sr.; three sisters and four brothers.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Mary C. Perdue and husband, Willard of Reidsville; grandchildren: Melody P. Thompson and husband, Dennis of Forest, VA; Marty Perdue and wife, Kim of Reidsville; Sheree Call and Jerry Call, Jr. both of Reidsville; six great grandchildren, a special great grandchild, Haley Call; a loving sister, Katie Sutton of McLeansville, NC and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to go to Vance Street Baptist Church, 1009 Hillsdale St., Reidsville, NC 27320; the Leaf Center of Eden, 211 North Oakland Ave., Eden NC 27288; and/or the Hospice Home of Rockingham County, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375. The family expresses a deep gratitude to the great care Ruby received from Dr. Hawkins and the Hospice Home of Rockingham County.
