Ruby Shelton Griffin

Reidsville – Ruby Shelton Griffin, 87, formerly of 1118 Green Street, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Avante Nursing Center.Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Clayton officiating. The burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.Mrs. Griffin was the daughter of the late Lemmie and Agnes Clark Shelton. She was retired from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. (American Tobacco) after 40 years of service. She was a longtime and faithful member of Reidsville Alliance Church. She was an avid bowler and a “die hard” Carolina Tar Heel fan. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Griffin; her daughter, Linda Holder; and her brothers, Ernest, Lewis and Roy Lester Shelton.Mrs. Griffin is survived by her brother, Ralph Shelton and wife, Shirley of Reidsville; her sisters, Ila Mckee of Reidsville and Alice Goins of Madison; her sisters-in-law, Margaret Shelton and Mildred Griffin both of Reidsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home one hour prior to the service and other times at Ila McKee’s home (2924 Swallow Road).
