Ruby Cayton Sharpe

Reidsville, NC – Ruby Cayton Sharpe, 90, of 4493 NC Hwy 65, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2010 at Countryside Manor. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Thursday, August 12, 2010 at New Lebanon Congregational Christian Church with Dr. Mark Harris and Rev. Charles Vaughan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Sharpe was born in Rockingham County to the late Benjamin and Nellie Bell Jackson Cayton. She was retired from Burlington Industries. Mrs. Sharpe was a longtime and faithful member of New Lebanon Congregational Christian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was a great cook and always made their house a home to everyone who entered. In her children’s words, “She was AWESOME”. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Roy Sharpe and her seven brothers and sisters. Mrs. Sharpe is survived by her children, Gloria Sharp Walker of Summerfield, NC, Linda Sharpe El Hady and husband, Ahmad of Washington, DC, Jesse Roy Sharpe, Jr. and wife, Susan of Kingsport, TN, Donald Ray Sharpe and wife, Christine of Reidsville and Thomas Wesley Sharpe and wife, Darlene of Shady Valley, TN; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; sisters-in-law, Dot Cayton of Eden, NC and Ellen Cayton of Madison, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home Wednesday, August 11 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and will be at the residence at other times. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the New Lebanon Congregational Christian Church, 521 Huffines Mill Road, Reidsville, NC 27320.
