Ruby Strader Stanley

Reidsville - Ruby Strader Stanley, 89, of 1409 Woodside Drive, died Friday, July 17, 2009, at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2009, at 3:00 P. M. at Reidsville Alliance Church with Rev. Norm Davis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be David Lynn, Rodney Lynn, Mark Fretwell, Robbie Hayes, Michael Hayes, Boyd Stanley, Steve Stanley and Billy Stanley. The burial will follow at Reidlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Stanley was born in Rockingham County to the late Robert and Annie Mae Kennon Strader. She was a member of Reidsville Alliance Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was involved in many mission's organizations. She was a member of the Christian Women's Club and was also a member of the Westwood ECA. Mrs. Stanley was retired from The American Tobacco Company after 30 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth H. Stanley; three sons, Levi Stanley, William "Bill" Boyd Stanley and Thomas Stanley. She is survived by her daughters, Arlene S. Fretwell and husband, Sam, of Eden; Elaine S. McKinney of Reidsville and Janice Stanley Thrift and Dennis of Spartanburg, S.C.; grandchildren, Debbie Harton, Mark Fretwell and wife, Robin, David Lynn and Lindy Lynn, Rodney Lynn and wife, Kim, Michael Hayes, Robbie Hayes, Jennifer Elvis, Billy Stanley, Keith Stanley and wife, Bridgett, Todd Stanley, and Caitlyn Gurthrie; 29 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Gracie Collins and husband, Henry of Reidsville; and daughters-in-law of deceased sons, Myrna Stanley of Greensboro and Teressa Stanley of Kernersville. The family would like to express their heart felt appreciation for the loving care of Mrs. Stanley's caregivers, Charlene Apple and Mattie James.
