Ruby Barber Vaughn

Pelham- Ruby Barber Vaughn, 91, formerly of 10538 Hwy 700, died on Thursday, October 15, 2009, at Countryside Manor in Stokesdale.Funeral services will be held 3:00PM, Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Sheldon Baptist Church on Old Highway 29, Pelham, where she was a charter member, with Rev. Ken Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery on Highway 700 in Pelham.Mrs. Vaughn was born in Toshes, Virginia to the late Bevely Thomas and Bertha Towler Barber and was a retiree of Dan River Mills. After retirement she worked as a caregiver for many years and was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed gardening. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Louis C. Pruitt and James Clayton Vaughn; brothers and sisters, Thomas Kermit Barber, Sterley Absent Barber, Nannie Wade Barber, Ernest Ervin Barber, Gladys Barber Tucker and Raymond Clyde Barber.She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Pruitt Gibson and husband, Garland of Benton, AR. and Phyllis Pruitt Collins and husband, Mark of Reidsville; son, Jimmie D. Vaughn of Pelham; grandchildren, Anne Michelle Gibson Wright and husband, Kenneth and Kellee McKinney Graves and husband, Garland; great grandchildren, Collin Graves and Sarah Wright ; sisters, Gatrel Barber Hyler, Frances Barber Hobbs, Betty Jean Barber Blakeman; brothers, Lester Clinton Barber, Willard Swanson Barber and Swanson Roosevelt Barber. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Sheldon Baptist Church other times at the home of Phyllis and Mark Collins, 1403 Pennrose Drive in Reidsville.Memorial contributions may be made to Sheldon Baptist Church, 2486 Old Highway 29, Pelham, North Carolina 27311 or Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, 9983 NC 700, Pelham, North Carolina 27311.
