Russell Anthony Griffin

Russell Anthony Griffin, 57, of Madison passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023.

A celebration of life will be held at Wilkerson Funeral home on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Russell was born in Isabela, Puerto Rico to Cecilia Griffin and the late Mike Griffin.

Along with his father, he is preceded in death by his grandmother, Doris Neighbors, and father-in-law, Bobby Fowlkes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Lori Griffin of Madison, NC; sons, Kevin Griffin of Hickory, NC; Hayden Griffin of Madison, NC; mother, Cecilia Griffin of Reidsville, NC; mother-in-law, Jean Fowlkes of Reidsville, NC; sister-in-law, Stacy Fowlkes of Reidsville, NC; brother-in-law, Robert Fowlkes of Biloxi, MS as well as a loving group of extended family and friends.

Russell was a graduate of Rockingham County High School, where he played on the football team. He was an employee of Procter & Gamble for the last 23 years.

He enjoyed rooting for, and occasionally yelling at, the UNC Tar Heels and Dallas Cowboys. Golf was one of his biggest passions and he enjoyed taking regular golf trips with the guys and beating his youngest son in games.

Travel was also important to Russell. In addition to regular outings to the beach and to play golf, he also made several family trips to Europe in recent years. Some of Russell’s most meaningful friendships were formed on vacations.

Above all, Russell loved spending time with his family and friends, talking about their interests and riding roller coasters, swimming in the pool and putting on fireworks shows each Independence Day.

He enriched the lives of his family and friends through his love, support and time they spent together forging lasting memories.
