Reidsville – Ruth Willis Bennett, 75, of 2305 Belmont Drive, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2010.Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 16, at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Doug McLeroy officiating. The interment will follow in Speedwell Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Mrs. Bennett was born in Rockingham County to the late Dewey and Manie Nance Willis. She was the administrative assistant to the Dean of Student Affairs for Rockingham Community College. She was a longtime and faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Reidsville. Crafts and handiwork were her passion, including pottery, knitting, and stitch work. She made many of the Chrismon ornaments for the church. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Willis Edwards.She is survived by her husband, Charles “Charlie” Bennett of the home; her children, Glenna Bennett Gallagher of Raleigh, Thomas “Tom” Trexler Bennett and wife, Martha of Cumming, GA and Lynn Bennett Eckert and husband, Kevin of Dubai, U.A.E.; her grandchildren, Jared Yamamoto, Allison Gallagher, Ryan Gallagher, Trexler Bennett, Cameron Bennett, Morgan Bennett, Ben Eckert and Charlotte Eckert.The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Friday, January 15, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at Jack and Nancy Marlowe’s home (3323 Country Lane – 336-349-4737).In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church (for the Capital Campaign), 318 S. Main Street, Reidsville, NC 27320.
