Ruth Johnson Comer

Reidsville-Ruth Eva Johnson Comer, 96, formally of The Carolina House of Reidsville, NC, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2011.Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 10, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Dave Huggins and Rev. Ron Boswell officiating. Interment will follow at Reidlawn Cemetery, located at 1530 Barnes Street, Reidsville.Mrs. Comer was born in Stokes County, North Carolina to the late Randall and Betty Lawson Johnson. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a Home Maker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul O. Comer who passed away in 2000; brothers, Roy, Bill, Carlos and Rupert Johnson; sisters, Nora Abbott and Annie Allen; infant son, Roy J. Comer; grandson, Paul D. Comer; daughter-in-law, Linda R. Comer. Survivors include Donald R. Comer of Pittsboro, NC; Jim L. Comer, and wife, Judy of Mauk, GA; Betty C. Hildebrandt, and husband, Billy of Reidsville; Gerald E. Comer and wife, Deborah of Reidsville; grandchildren, Laura Comer, Todd Hildebrandt, Jeff Comer and wife, Jill, Janet Comer and husand, Alan, Matthew Comer and wife, Kelly, Jacob Comer; great-grandchildren, Rachel Comer and Wes Comer. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 6 - 8 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Betty Hildebrandt, 1606 Pecan Road, Reidsville.Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society; Muscular Dystrophy Association. The family would like to thank the staff of The Carolina House and Annie Penn Hospital for the loving care they showed toward their Mother.
