Ruth Rumley Fargis

Reidsville: Ruth Rumley Fargis, 84, of 206 Neal Street, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospital in the Palliative Care Unit. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Reidsville Alliance Church with Rev. Peter Dodge officiating. The interment will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. Mrs. Fargis was born in Rockingham County to the late Dewey and Ada Landreth Rumley. She attended the Reidsville Alliance Church. She was the owner / operator of Candy’s Grocery. Prior to her time at the grocery, she worked for many years as a seamstress for GEM Dandy and Brookside. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. A woman of faith, she enjoyed reading her Bible and watching Dr. Charles Stanley. Her hobbies included puzzle books, watching the Atlanta Braves and spending time with her precious dog, Sugar. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Verlyn “Candy Boy” Fargis; her brothers, Monroe, Edward, Clarence, Carlisle, and Robert Rumley. Mrs. Fargis is survived by her children, Doug Fargis and wife, Sue of Reidsville, Mason Fargis and wife, Irene of Charlotte, Amanda Fargis of the home and Melissia Styer and husband, John of Reidsville; grandchildren, Rachel Fargis Humphries and husband, Gary, Donna and Madison Styer and Tonya Perkins and husband, Ray; great grandchildren, Melissa, Emily and Nicholas Sanderson; brother, Paul “Dub” Rumley and wife, Corrine of Mayodan and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 PM on Tuesday, May 21 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at her home.
