Sadie Powell Collins

Reidsville: Mrs. Sadie Powell Collins, 89, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 24th at 2:00 P.M. at Reidlawn Cemetery with Pastor Shannon Newsome officiating. The family will be at the home of Ron and Laura Collins, 1404 Sherwood Drive, Reidsville immediately following the graveside service, until 7:00 P.M. for those who would like to visit. Sadie was born on April 23, 1925, in Caswell County to the late Ira and Lula Mae Powell of Locust Hill, NC. In her early life, Mrs. Collins left the local area and resided in Washington, DC. There she worked in the Civil Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In DC, she met her husband and after marriage lived in Massachusetts for a short while before moving to Reidsville, NC. Here, she had remained her entire life. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Joseph Collins and by one grandchild Thomas L. Collins II. One of 10 children, her sole surviving sibling is Lula Mae (Connie) Reynolds of Reidsville. Surviving in addition to her sister are son Thomas L Collins (TC), daughter Joan C Guilford and husband John, son Ronald Collins and wife Laura all of Reidsville and daughter Tammy C. Barbee and Carson Hurley of Summerfield, NC. Also surviving are grandchildren Carla L. Linville & fiancé Doug, Jodi Lambert & husband Brian, Lindsey, Brice, Cameron, Candi and great grandchildren, Brandon Cannon, Reagan Lambert, Dylan Lambert, Colin and Madison, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
