Reidsville - Saint “Eddie” Edward Richardson, 74, of 1286 Narrow Gauge Road went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Harmon, Rev. Ralph Clayton and Rev. David Surrett officiating. Interment will follow at a later time. Mr. Richardson was born on October 6, 1936 to the late Saint Richardson I and the late Annie Belle Richardson. Born in Warren Co., his heritage was of Native American of the Haliwa-Saponi Indian Tribe. He was an avid gardener and fisherman among being a NC State Wolf Pack and Redskins fan. Eddie was very active with children, being a little league coach and being involved in the Boy Scouts and playing the role of Santa Claus for over 25 years. He was a kind hearted person that loved people and never met a stranger. Eddie loved his family with a great passion, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters and one special nephew, Willie Carter. Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Carroll Richardson of the home; sons, Henry Richardson and wife, Dawn of Reidsville, Joe Richardson and wife, Velna of Eden, and Gary Richardson of McLeansville; daughter, Jessica Benfield and husband, Tim of Reidsville; grandchildren, Saint J., Silver, and Joshua Kaleb Benfield; five sisters; several nieces and nephews and lifetime friend, Myrtle Boone. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 from 6 - 8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Myrtle Boone, 1839 Barnes Street, Reidsville. The family request in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wilkerson Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
