Reidsville – Saint Elmo Sandridge, 88, of 246 Magnolia Drive passed away on Monday, March 30, 2009, at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewey Griffith officiating. Interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery with Military Rites. Mr. Sandridge was born in Danville, Va. to the late George Washington and Carrie Harris Sandridge. Elmo was a veteran of the United States Army who was part of the 347 Fighter’s Squad and served in WWII as a Corporal. He was a loving; husband, father, and grandfather who was devoted to his family. He loved watching racing, was always there to lend a hand and who never met a stranger. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Benny Sandridge and one step-sister. Elmo is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Eula Mae Sandridge of the home; sons, William Sandridge and wife, Janie of Greensboro and Michael Sandridge and wife, Cheryl of Eden; daughters, Patsy Sandridge of the home and Diane Hudson of Reidsville; grandchildren, Lynda Saylor and husband, Derek, Jennie Hudson, Elaine Orrell and husband, Steven, Kaley Sandridge and Sarah Webb; great-grandchild, Eizabeth Orrell; brothers, Richard Sandridge of Greensboro and Bernard Sandridge of St. Louis. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 6-8 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Victory Junction Gang Camp, 4500 Adam’s Way, Randleman, NC 27317.
