Sammie T. Shelton

Reidsville: Sammie T. Shelton, 83, of 281 Peach Tree Rd., passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Morehead Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Warner officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Sammie was born on February 26, 1933, in Guilford County to the late Peter Reid Shelton and Pincie Taylor Shelton. He was a dedicated worker with the Department of Transportation, retiring after more than 44 years of service. He was a gifted mechanic, which he has passed down to his son and grandson. Sammie liked hunting and fishing and especially loved baseball. Many remember him for singing gospel music. He was a very loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Brown Shelton; his second wife, Nola Morris Shelton; a brother, Roy Dixon Shelton and two sisters, Doris Marie Coe and Betsy Elaine Potts. Survivors include his son, Lee Shelton and fiancée Robin Seaman; step-children, Holly McKown and Tony Robertson; his grandchildren, Jerrica Leann Shelton, Jeremy Lee Shelton, Robbie Preston Harrell Shelton and Hope Mabe; great grandchildren, Beth Shelton, Clohie Mabe, Christian Mabe and Layla Mabe, and a sister, Kay Frances King. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M., Friday, at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, 471 Stone Rd., Reidsville, NC 27320.
