Reidsville, NC – Sammy Eugene Young, 81 and his wife, Mary Frances Duke Young, 82, of 2830 Ashley Loop, died on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at their residence. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. Sammy was born in Rockingham County to the late Paul Oliver Young and Minnie Flourence Dillon Young. He was a craftsman, retired Baptist minister, member of Thompsonville Baptist Church and a house parent with the Baptist Children’s Home in Thomasville. He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul “Jimmy” Ray Young. Mary Frances was born in Rockingham County to the late William Ernest Duke and Lula Carroll Duke. She was a retired executive assistant, member of Thompsonville Baptist Church where she was a choir member, and a graduate of Mitchell College where she was a member of the chorus. Mary Frances played the violin, loved gardening and flowers and was also a house parent at the Baptist Children’s Home in Thomasville. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Nathaniel Duke. Both are survived by their children, Craig Young and wife Debbie of Reidsville, Dianne Young of Kernersville, NC, Susan Young Tilley and husband, Pete of Lewisville, NC; grandchildren, Robert Christopher Barker, Jeremy Tilley, Melissa Suzanne Tilley, Jennifer Lauren Barker, Dana Michelle Young; great grandchild, Chloe Antionette Dubose. Sammy is also survived by his sisters, Geraldine Young Dean and Patty Dillion Young Brower. Wilkerson Funeral Home is assisting the family and condolences may be made to www.wilkersonfuneral.com.
