Reidsville – Samuel “Sammy” J. Blakely, 67, of 173 Page Lane, died Monday, May 5, 2008
at his home.
Funeral
services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Faith Baptist Church
with Rev. Richard DeHart and Larry Blakely officiating. Interment will follow
in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
Mr.
Blakely was born in Rockingham
County to the late James
W. “Will” and Iva Mae Ellis Blakely. He was retired in 2005 from Highland Tank
where he was a welder and worked in maintenance. He was a member of Faith Baptist
Church for 17 years. Other
than his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, J.W., Bill, and
Charles Blakely.
He
is survived by his wife, Penny Blakely of the home; sons, Randy Blakley and
Susan, Todd Blakely and Tracey Blakely and wife, Julie all of Reidsville;
daughter, Tammy “Sissy” Hanks and fiancé, Donny “Spud” McCraw of Danville, VA;
grandchildren, Jessy Hanks, Dusty Hanks, T.J. Blakely and wife, Ashley, K.C.
Blakely and wife, Heather, Nikki Blakely and Joshua Blakely; great grandchildren,
Trinity Williams, Riley Blakely, Braden Blakely and Alex Hanks; brothers,
Carlus Blakely and wife, Virginia of Lexington, NC and Grady Blakely and wife,
Linda of Troy, NC; sister, Matti James of Reidsville; step mother, Gladys M.
Blakely; step brothers, Kenny McKinney and wife, Pat, Freddy McKinney and wife,
Margaret and Grey McKinney and wife, Doris; step sister, Jenny McKinney;
sisters-in-law, Lois Blakely all of Reidsville and Marciline Blakely of
Kernersville.
The
family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, from 7-9 PM at Wilkerson
Funeral Home. Other times the family will be at Tracey’s home (180 Page Lane).
