Tampa, FL- Samuel F. “Fields” Scott, Jr., 87, of Tampa, FL, formerly of Reidsville, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at his Tampa, FL home with family near. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Gertha; brother, Jack; and sister Rebecca Pardue. Survived by Stella, his wife of 65 years; daughters, Robin Parsells and husband, Alan of Brooksville, FL; Patricia Reid and husband Wade of Elizabeth City, NC; and son, Thomas Scott and wife, Wendy of Punta Gorda, FL; and grandchildren, R. Scott Krone; Jason Scott, Cynthia Scott Traeger and Samuel Reid.
Born and reared in Reidsville, “Fields” , as he was known in Reidsville, graduated from Reidsville High School in 1941. He was a Naval Aviator stationed at Pensacola, FL during WWII, where he met and married Stella. After the war, he worked at Scott Motor Sales in Reidsville. Fields lived in Florida since 1959, after graduating from Georgia Tech with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a vice president at Flanagan-Metcalf, Inc. in Tampa, and retired in 1992, after 33 years.
A memorial service was held at the Palma Ceia United Methodist Church in Tampa on April 18th (his birthday), where he had been a member for 51 years. Graveside services for the interment of his ashes will be held on Tuesday, June 28th at 11:00 AM at Reidlawn Cemetery, conducted by Bobby Martin (husband of Frances Scott Martin) of the Bible-Way Community Church.
