Sara Wright Styer, 85, of 240 Styer Dairy Road went home to be with The Lord on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 27, 2021, at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor CeCee Mills officiating. The burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Sara was born in Rockingham County to the late J. Milton Wright, Sr. and Dura Mae Pearman Wright. She lived her life every day from dawn till dusk! Her faith journey was evident by her longtime and faithful commitment to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she played the organ for many years and was always willing to serve regardless of the call. Sara retired from Annie Penn Hospital with over 40 years of service. Her passion was working with the moms and the babies and was involved with probably thousands of births. Sara was always concerned about others and found time to volunteer by serving as a 4H leader, a member of the women’s auxiliary for the Monroeton Volunteer Fire Department, a past president of the ABWA, helping with the election polls, and serving on the Rockingham County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee. She worked side by side with her husband, Ray, throughout their journey together, maintaining the farm and making their house a home. She was all about her family, and she especially adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ray Styer; son Tommy Styer; and son-in-law Raymond Perry.
Sara is survived by her sons John Styer and wife Melissia and Mark Styer and wife Shannon: daughters Denise Styer Perry and Corrine Styer Ore and husband Sammy: grandchildren Dale Perry and wife Rebekah, Sara Perry, Kayla Ore, Callie Domineck and husband James, Bree Ore, Alis Styer, Donna Styer, Bryce Ore, Alec Styer, Madison Styer, and Aden Styer; great grandchildren Lincoln Ore, Ava and Easton Perry; brother JM Wright, Jr. and wife Rachel; sister Betty Moore and husband Walter; and a large extended family.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Tommy Styer Memorial Scholarship Fund, RCC Foundation, Inc., PO Box 156, Wentworth, NC 27375-0038 or Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Carolyn Halverson, Kimberly Peterman, Sharlene Benfield, Kathryn Joyce and Hospice of Rockingham County for the love, support, and special care given to our mother.
