Sarah Smith Allen

Ruffin: Sarah Smith Allen, 61, of 228 Arrowhead Rd., Ruffin, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County after a long illness. Sarah was born on May 16, 1953, in Forsythe County to the late James Gurney and Maggie Bailey Smith. She taught for Guilford County School System and she liked working with young people. She was a deeply religious person. During her illness, she did Bible Study over the telephone. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ruffin Smith. Survivors include her husband, Arnold Allen; her daughter, Trisha Allen-Long, her son, James Calvin Allen; her grandchildren, Houston and Sarah Long and Miriam and Joshua Allen; one great granddaughter, Lilly Allen; her sisters, Ellen Kennett and Stella Peeden and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will see friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at her home.
