Cick Here to View Memorial VideoReidsville: Sharon Lee Murray Barham, 70, of 517 Barham Road, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family on Sunday September 22, 2013 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Vaughan, Rev. Kevin Cochran and Rev. Olaf van-de-Klashorst officiating. The burial will follow at Mt. Bethel Evangelical Covenant Church Cemetery. Sharon was a native of Crown Point, IN and was the daughter of the late, Donald and Mary Valles Murray. She was formerly employed with First National Bank of Reidsville and WREV Radio. She was a longtime and faithful member of Mt. Bethel Evangelical Covenant Church. Sharon’s courageous 21 year battle with cancer has inspired thousands of families in our County. She established the Rockingham County Relay for Life and was affectionately known as the “Mother” of the Rockingham County Relay for Life. Because of her diligence and tenacious support of these efforts, she was recognized as the 1995-96 American Cancer Society “Volunteer of the Year”. Also, she was recently named as the first Honorary Chair of the 2013 Rockingham County Relay for Life. Family was her greatest priority and she especially loved and cherished her grandchildren. Sharon is survived by her husband, D. Wayne Barham of the home; her children, Maria Barham Wall and husband, Jimmy, Malisa Barham Cochran and husband, Kevin and Alan Wayne Barham all of Reidsville; grandchildren, Sean and Sarah Cochran, Kamryn Wall and Joshua Barham; brother, Donald Murray, Jr. and wife, Audi of Terre Haute, IN; sister, Sandy Murray Miller and husband, Larry of Crown Point, IN; Sisters in law, Linda B. Hershman and husband, Jay, Patsy B. Goodman and husband, John, Margie B. Ellington and husband, Danny, and Eva B. Fox and husband Steve; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 24 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at Maria and Jimmy’s home (469 Barham Road).
