Shelby Hiatt Newton

Shelby Hiatt Newton, 80, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at Clapp’s Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden, NC. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery with Rev. Gleason Worrell and Rev. Danny Parker officiating. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Shelby was born on May 14, 1936 in Rockingham County to the late Nathan and Georgia Hiatt. She was a loving mother and called all her grandkids, “her sweet angels.” Her life included loving the Cowboys football team, and enjoyed shag dancing. Her favorite color was always “Red.” She was known for her chocolate and lemon pies and greatly enjoyed her sweet tea. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Glosson; a sister, Vera Holland; and brothers, Ned and Bernard Hiatt. She is survived by her sons: Barry Glosson and wife, Smita of Oak Ridge, and Johnny Glosson and wife, Donna of Clemmons; grand-daughters: Chasity Armstrong, Brandi Glosson, Danielle Glosson, Lauren Glosson, Ashley Taylor, Jessica Glosson and Victoria Glosson; great grand-children: Savannah Myrick, Grayson Armstrong, Ella Armstrong and Kasslyn Taylor; and a nephew, Keith Hiatt.
