Shirley Ann Leake Griffin

Shirley Ann Leake Griffin, 89 of Reidsville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024, surrounded by her girls.

A funeral service will be held at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Saturday, July 13th at 11:00 A.M. with Rev Gordon Fisher Officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and burial will follow the service at Reidlawn cemetery. 

Shirley was born the youngest of 8 children in Henry County Virginia, to the late Gloster Leake and Alma Smith Leake. Shirley enjoyed trips around the country with her family and friends. During the last few years, she cherished the time spent with Sharon and Ginny.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Herbert G Griffin; son, Jerry G. Griffin; granddaughter, Christy A. Taylor; great granddaughter, Emilie Zoe Yang; son-in-law, Keith D McCollum; along with 7 brothers and sisters.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Sharon Middendorf (David) and Ginny Jarrett (Mark); grandchildren, Anna Yang (Jin); Jason Middendorf (Sarah), Jason Taylor, and Jennifer McCollum Strickland; great grandchildren, Nevyn, Bryce, and Connor Yang, Edwin and Evelyn Middendorf, as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends. 

The family would like to offer special thanks to the caregivers at Brookdale and Ancora Compassionate Care.
