Shirley Moody Hathcock, 81, passed away at her home on Friday, September 30, 2016.
Shirley was born December 1, 1934 in Stanly County, NC to the late Windsor Garvin Hathcock and Evelyn Moody Estes. She resided in Rockingham County. She was an avid horse owner and lover all of her life. She was independent and full of life to the very end. Her hobbies included: being an accomplished artist, gardener and she was not afraid to tackle any home improvement project.
Survivors include her four children: daughters, Sherry Banks of Edom, Texas and Terri Wolfe and husband, Peter of Nevada City, California; sons, Robert “Bob” Jarrett and wife, Charlynn of Redlands, California and Wylie Taylor and his fiancé, Renate Hekler, of Lake Forest California; a sister, Nancy H. Price; two brothers: Charles Hathcock and Robert Hathcock and wife, Nelda of Florida; eight grandchildren; and her first husband, Earl Eugene Jarrett; along with several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to very close friends and neighbors: Karen Owens, Gerry Wyrick and Cassie Turner. Survivors also include her beloved horse, Katie Jane and her German Shepherd, Sherlock.
