Reidsville – Sonja Barham Sharp, 62, of 407 Whip-O-Will Way, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January, 12, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 15, 2009 at First Congregational Christian Church of which she was a member with the Rev. Dan Jones and Rev. Mark Tolodziecki officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Sonja was born in Rockingham County to the late Marvin S. and Susie Combs Barham on February 18, 1946. She grew up in the Bethany community and moved to Reidsville after her marriage to her husband of 40 years, Walter Sharp, Jr. Sonja began her work career at Jefferson Standard Life Insurance where she was employed for 5 years. She served as assistant office manager at NC Gas Company and retired after 28 years of service. Upon retiring, she opened a children’s clothing store, The Kid’s Zone, which she operated until 2003. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Regina Barham and grandson, Nathaniel Sharp Lewis. Survivors include her husband, Walter Sharp, Jr. of the home; daughters, Alicia “Lisa” Harris and husband, Mark and Leslie Lewis and husband, Phillip all of Reidsville; grandchildren, Stephen and Shannon Harris, Emily and Zachary Lewis; sisters, Faye Joyce and husband, Ferry of Summerfield, Marvina Barker and husband, Ronald and Beth Linville and husband, Carlton; brother-in-law and wife, James and Ila Sue Sharpe all of Reidsville; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Throughout her life, Sonja was devoted to her family. She dedicated countless hours lovingly caring for her husband, children and grandchildren which were her greatest joy. She will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, January 14 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at the home.
