Stokesdale: Steven Patrick Baker, 56, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 5, 2018.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M., Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Wilkerson Funeral Home, with Dr. Ron Tuck officiating.
Steve was a complex man and a deep thinker. He was funny, stubborn, sensitive, sentimental and loving. He loved to laugh and just plain, be silly. He made others laugh too. It was the simple things in life that gave him the most pleasure. As a boy, he enjoyed scouting and playing sports like baseball and basketball. He also liked fishing and riding bikes. He often spoke fondly of summer vacations on Emerald Isle. But the most important thing to him was family. He always enjoyed time spent with them, especially during the holidays and on special occasions. Christmas was his favorite and he particularly enjoyed spending it with his daughters, Kalena and Cassie. He loved them with all his heart! He was a fierce father and there was nothing he wouldn’t do to protect them. Everything he did; he did for them.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents Conroe Boyd Baker and Lucy Mae Waldrop Baker.
Survivors include his daughters, Stephanie "Kalena" Baker and Cassaundra "Cassie" Baker; grandson, Demitryes Collin Jumper; brothers, Lonnie Baker (Cindy), Michael "Mike" Baker and sister, Cheryl English (Bill).
He was raised in the church; he believed in God and claimed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. While we are deeply saddened by our loss and will miss him terribly, we must also rejoice and celebrate. We are comforted in the knowledge that, by grace, he is with our Lord, now and always. We love you Steve…until we meet again.
