Sybil Shelton Myers

Reidsville – Sybil Shelton Myers of Reidsville, passed on to eternal life on November 9, 2010. Born April 3, 1925 in Danville, VA. She had resided in North Carolina for 60 years. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, November 14, 2010 at First Baptist Church, where she was a member. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park in Danville, VA. She is survived by her children, Anne Saleeby of Fripp Island, SC, Allen Myers and wife, Jan of McLeansville, NC and Chris Myers and wife, Cynthia of Reidsville. She was the wife of Claude Allen “Chubby” Myers, Jr., predeceased 18 years ago on the same day. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Hurd. She had four grandchildren, Daniel Myers, Emily Alford, Brent Myers and Katie Lucas and one great grandchild, Jake Myers. Mom was a life long lover of poetry and was a distinguished member of the International Society of Poets. She devoted her life to her children. She served faithfully as secretary of the Reidsville Junior High School for many years, as well as the secretary of the Billy Graham Crusade that was held in Reidsville. She loved her cats and enjoyed the beauty of the country living. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to First Baptist Church, 409 S. Main Street, Reidsville, NC 27320.
