Sybil Vernon Watkins

Reidsville – Sybil Vernon Watkins, 60, of 976 Baker Cross Road, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Templeton officiating. Interment will follow in Reidlawn cemetery. Mrs. Watkins was born in Rockingham County to the late William and Elaine Bullard Vernon on July 6, 1950. Sybil was a homemaker that enjoyed giving especially as the Family Support Coordinator for the National Guard from the years of 1986 - 1993. She loved all aspects of the beach and the mountains. Among her other interest Sybil loved all types of crafts. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul Watkins of the home; brother, Don Vernon of Reidsville; sisters, Jane Manley and husband, Hal and Judy “Sam” Middleton all of Greensboro; five nieces; three nephews; and nine grand-nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 12, 2011 from 7 – 9 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made in Sybil’s honor to Brenner Children's Hospital, Office of Development, Medical Center Boulevard, Winston-Salem, NC 27157-1021 The family wishes to give a special thank you to the physicians and staff of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for the special care that Sybil and the family received while under their care.
