Terrell Oliver Sparks

Ruffin: Terrell O. Sparks, 81, of 1885 Worsham Mill Road, died on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the VA Hospital in Durham, NC. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Happy Home Congregational Church Cemetery with Rev. Bland Leebrick officiating. Mr. Sparks was born in Pittsylvania County, VA and was the son of the late Willie and Lannie Hopper Sparks. He was veteran of the US Army serving after the Korean Conflict. He was a tobacco farmer, dairy farmer and drove a school bus for over 20 years. He was a longtime member of the Board of Directors for the Rockingham County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and was the last surviving “Charter” member of the Ruffin Volunteer Fire Department. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Louise Sparks. Mr. Sparks is survived by his wife, Jane Sharp Sparks of the home; his children, Carl Sparks and wife, Wanda, Fred Sparks and Janice Anderson all of Ruffin; grandchildren, Carla Ann Eanes and husband, Brian, Chris Sparks, Sarah Sparks, Allison Sparks, Emily Anderson and Andy Anderson; sister, Willie Frances Walker and husband, Mitch of Ruffin; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Happy Home Congregational Church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Tuesday. Other times the family will be at the residence.
