Thelma Scearce Kuykendall

Thelma Scearce Kuykendall, 97, went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2021.

A funeral service will be held at 2PM on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Warner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A graveside committal will follow at Happy Home Church cemetery.

Thelma was born to the late Gordon W. Scearce and Annie Halbrook Scearce. Her step mother was Inez Hobbs Scearce. She was a member of Vance St. Baptist Church. She retired from Burlington Industries, the devoted her time to being a loving wife, mother, sister, Mema/Nana and a great friend to many. She took these roles to heart. She always loved working in her flowers and crocheting.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Claude Kuykendall. Daughter, Janice L. White. Brothers, Gene and G.W. Scearce. Sisters, Virgie Pryor and Inez Wall.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Hyler (Bill). Step-daughters Peggy (Eugene) Shepherd. Barbara (Roy) Griffin. Grandchildren, Huey Hyler and Marylou Stanley. Six great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Special friends are Mack and Wendy Mcgibbony; Roy and Nancy Boydstom.
