Reidsville: Thelma Tickle Dickens, 92, went home to be with The Lord on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living of Reidsville.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Joel Locklear officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the grave.
Mrs. Dickens was born in Rockingham County and the daughter of the late Ashby Odell and Mary Diamond Tickle. She was retired from the American Tobacco Company with over 38 years of service. Mrs. Dickens was a longtime and faithful member of College Park Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was a youth leader. She graduated from Bethany High School in 1944 and married the love of her life, Ernest Dickens in 1946. She was passionate about her flowers, her yard, sewing and her family. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; her sisters, Yvonne Tickle, Joan Tickle Holland and Lucy Tickle Walker; her brothers, Odell, Hampton, Pervis, Garland and Melvin Tickle.
Mrs. Dickens is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Dickens of Reidsville; her son, Berkley Dickens and wife, Deborah of Charlotte; her sister, Treva Tickle Gregg; her brothers, Stewart Tickle and wife, Betty and Kenneth Tickle and wife, Kay all of Reidsville and a large extended family.
