Brown Summit-Thelma Loftis Toler, 88, of 5929 Bush Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Blumenthal Jewish Nursing and Rehab Center of Greensboro.
Funeral services will be held at one o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, January 18th, 2013 in Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3920 Baylor Street, Greensboro, North Carolina with Pastor Larry Pugh officiating. They will receive friends and family for visitation at the church before the service between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends other times at the home of son, Gene, 1780 Kalon Drive, Brown Summit, North Carolina. The burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.
Thelma was born in Caswell County on June 20, 1924 to the late Adolphus and Fannie Carter Loftis. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for over 40 years. Thelma loved living life to the fullest and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She surely will be missed. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her son, Ronald Toler; siblings, Alma Purdue, Boyd Loftis, Lindsay Loftis, Patty Gordon, Verlie Pierce, Bertha Lineberry, and Millie Norwood.
Thelma is survived by her beloved husband, Joshua Gray Toler; sons, James Eugene (JT) Toler and wife, Patty of Brown Summit, William Gregory Toler of Brown Summit and Robert Lynn Toler and wife, Caroline of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Courtney Marini, Jamie Toler, Candace Toler and Joshua Toler; great-grandchildren, Ryan Tully, Ireland Carroll, Trinity Toler and Jacob Carroll; sister, Annie Bates and many nieces and nephews.
