Thomas Daniel Newton

Thomas Daniel Newton, 73, of 135 Waynor Circle, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Reidsville Christian Church with Robert Johnson officiating. The burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. Tommy was born in Rockingham County to the late Daniel Walker Newton and Mamie Brown Newton. He was a lifelong member and deacon of Reidsville Christian Church. He was an employee of The American Tobacco Company and worked with Common Wealth Tobacco Company. He was an Army National Guard veteran. He was a founding member and served as captain of the Monroeton Volunteer Fire Department. He was president and founding member of the Antique Engine Association as well. He also enjoyed hunting and working on antique cars and farm equipment. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his step mother, Etta Kimbro. Survivors include his wife, Jettie M. Newton; son, Jordan T. Newton and wife, Meredith; grandchildren, Bradley T. Newton, Lyla M. Newton and Raleigh L. Newton; brother, William Newton and wife, Randi of Roswell, New Mexico; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, August 3, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
