Tommy Lee Sawyers

Tommy Lee Sawyers, 74 of Reidsville passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023, at Wilkerson Funeral Home. 

Tommy was born in Rockingham County to the late Orange Sawyers and Vera Virginia Allison Sawyers. He graduated from Reidsville Senior High School. After School he joined the US Air Force where he served during the Vietnam Conflict. After his military service he went to work at P. Lorillard Tobacco Co. where he retired after 32 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. Tommy loved the beach and collected arrow heads and shark’s teeth. He was a serious fisherman and loved to be at his favorite spot The Tackle Box Tavern in Atlantic Beach, NC. He loved his dogs Shorty and Cricket but most of all he loved his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Orange Sawyers Jr. and the mother of his child, Jeanette Sawyers.

Tommy is survived by his son, Ellis Sawyers (Teresa Carter); sisters, Linda Sartin and Carol Ellington (Walter); grandchildren, Brant Sawyers, Ellis Sawyers II, and Brenna Nicole Sawyers as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
