Virgie Hagood Burton

Reidsville: Virgie H. Burton, age 91, passed away on April 2, 2008 at Duke University Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Wilkerson Funeral Home.   Interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Burton was born in Danville, Virginia on November 24, 1916 and was the daughter of the late Lamon and Mattie Hagood.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Z. Burton and two brothers, Clyde J. Hagood and J.T. Hagood. She lived most of her life in the Sadler Community north of Reidsville where she was active in home demonstration clubs and was president of the Sadler School PTA. For many years she was a cashier at   Daniels Convenience store. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. Ten years ago she moved to the home of her daughter in Durham. Mrs. Burton loved her family and they loved her. Her two grandchildren were the delight of her life. She is survived by her only child, Emily B. Dike and son-in-law Rick Dike and grandchildren, Missy Dike of Durham and Kenny Dike of Scottsdale, AZ. She is also survived by her niece, Janice H. Keel and by a sister-in-law, Erma Hagood of Danville, VA. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 5th , one hour prior to the service.
