Reidsville: Virgie Cook Loye, 89, of 966 Grooms Road, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, July 6, 2015 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Land officiating. The burial will follow at Reidlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at her home.
Mrs. Loye was a native of Cana, VA and the daughter of the late, Yancy and Mary Jane Jackson Cook. She attended Mt. Airy public schools and later moved to Reidsville. She met the love of her life, Johnny Patterson Loye while working at American Tobacco Company where they both retired. Virgie retired with almost 40 years of service. In her childhood, she was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church and later attended Hillview Presbyterian Church in Reidsville. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, always putting others before herself. She lived her life by expressing kindness and generosity to anyone in need. She was an avid gardener and she enjoyed baking for her family and friends. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Loye; her sisters, Neva Combs, Nina Ward, Annie Wilson and Jeanne Heidecker; her brothers, Joseph Cook, Hosea Cook and Wilford Cook.
Mrs. Loye is survived by her daughters, Barbara Burgos of Frederick, MD, Shelia King and husband, Joey and Sharon Reece all of Reidsville; grandchildren, Adriel “AJ” Burgos and Leah King; great grandson, Rayne Burgos; numerous nieces, nephews, many friends and Thomas, her special feline friend.
