Danville: Virginia Theo Walker Poteat, 96, formerly of Park Springs Road, Caswell County, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Hospice of Rockingham County.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Elder David Underwood officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
She was born to the late Thomas Moten and Carrie Loftis Walker on February 5, 1922 in Caswell County; she was the last of her generation. On November 22nd, 1941 she married Louis Edward Poteat Sr.. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and attended Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Louis Edward Poteat Sr; son, Thomas Wade Poteat Sr.; brothers, Samuel, Woodrow, Miller, Stanford, Ray and Ashley; sisters, Gladys, Naomi, Linnie, Pricie and Carrie Lee.
She is survived by her children, Edward Poteat Jr.( Kathy), Fern Ross, Julian Poteat (Carol); grandchildren, Kim Cockran (Kenny), Kelly Green, Tommy Poteat (Jill), Stacey Hamlett (Houston), Lauren Lunsford (Luke), Shay Clark (Steven), Myra Goad (Mac); brother in law, Houston Poteat; 12 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren and a large extended family.
