Reidsville - Virginia Powell "Billie" Allen, 87, of 1021 Wolf Island Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Annie Penn Hospital.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Hodges and Pastor Ronnie Warner officiating. The burial will follow in Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Allen was born in Rockingham County to the late, Willie Johnson "WJ" and Ophelia Strader Powell. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Burton Memorial Baptist Church. Her faith was evident in all aspects of her life and she taught Sunday school for over 35 years. Her family was her life and she always made her house a home. There was always food for everyone and the best sweet tea. Whatever she did, it was always as unto the Lord. Her prayers moved Heaven and as described in Proverbs 31, "A woman who fears the Lord shall be praised." Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, B. T. Allen, her great grandson, Joseph Hodges, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.She is survived by her son, Ronnie Allen of Madison; her daughters, Rachel Crumpton and husband, Gee of Eden and Darlene Allen and husband, Tim of Reidsville; her grandchildren, Sheila Hurst and husband, Todd, Lisa Adkins and husband, Robert, James Hodges and wife, Barbara and Amber Garrison and husband, Will; her great grandchildren, Aaron, Dylan, Nicholas and Matthew and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Tuesday, May 29 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at Darlene and Tim's home (1039 Wolf Island Road).Memorial Contributions may be made to Burton Memorial Mother's Day Fund, 184 Cook Florist Road, Reidsville, NC 27320 OR Freedom Baptist Church Building Fund, 158 Ashley Loop, Eden, NC 27288.
