Wade Alan Vernon, 22, went home to be with The Lord unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Burton Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Ronnie Jones officiating and the burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at 1059 Johnsontown Rd, Thomasville OR 3629 NC Hwy 150, Reidsville.
Wade was born July 9th, 1999, in Thomasville, North Carolina bringing additional joy to the family. Growing up he loved puzzles and Legos, always trying to figure out how to put them back together. There was no need for directions because his intuitive mind would figure it out. He graduated from East Davidson High School with many friends and his older sister. Not long after graduating, Wade took welding classes at RCC and graduating with his welding certificate. After searching for a fitting place to work he was hired at Bibey Machine Shop where Wade integrated his talents throughout Bibey and harmonized the work environment by telling all his coworkers his corny dad jokes brightening everyone’s day. Wade was loved by those he worked with and for, working diligently with them and learning all he could to get the job done right. On his lunch break he would spend that time calling his Momma, Daddy, or Katie.
When not working overtime, Wade would help his grandpa at the house learning more about working hard. He was at every cookout and family gathering, playing with the kids, and joking around with his sister. In him was this quick-witted humor quoting and acting out every scene and line from every movie he’s ever watched. Singing in the car with Katie was something he always enjoyed. Every note he sang was pitch perfect and every tune he heard he could find the same sound on the piano.
As Wade grew with stronger work ethics and obtain wisdom, so did his faith in Christ. While reading the devotional “Follow Me” by David Platt, with one of his close friends, Cory Butler, Wade began to devote himself to walking closer with Christ. The heart he had for those who were wandering away from God made him hurt and concerned. He lavished a never-ending amount of sympathy and empathy on those who were hurting and for those who were struggling with their faith in Christ by sharing the Gospel to them. Our genuine, loving young man, Wade Vernon will be treasured dearly. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ramona Edwards; and his paternal aunt Judy Middleton.
Wade is survived by his mother Vanessa Edwards Delaney; father Sean Vernon; sister Katie Vernon; maternal grandfather Bobby Edwards; paternal grandmother Linda Lovelace and husband Lofton; paternal grandfather Don Vernon; aunts and uncles Jason and Kim Edwards, Scarlett and David Horton, and Sherry and Ashley Gatewood; cousins Hannah, Holly, Will, Ava, Kristine, and Georgia; and a large extended family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the NC Baptist Men’s Ministries, PO Box 1107, Cary, NC 27512.
