Waldo Daniel Smith

Reidsville – Waldo Daniel Smith, Sr, 85, of 507 Lawndale Drive, passed away Monday, September 22, 2008 at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 25 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Worley officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens Waldo was born in Randolph County to the late Kemp Smith Sr. and Alta Cox Smith and served in the US Army during WWII in the Medical Division in Germany. He was a former co-owner of Crescent Milling Company and owner of Waldo Smith Locksmith, member of Community Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and president of the Adult Bible Sunday School Class. He also was a member of the Gideons for many years and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Maurine Smith of the home; daughter, Dawn Smith Patteson and husband, Charlie of Ruffin; son, Waldo Smith, Jr. and wife, Janet of Reidsville; grandchildren, Dana Satterfield, Waldo Smith III, Brandy Mathis and husband, Roger, Raven Allen and Kasey Smith; great grandchildren Kayla Satterfield, Brandon and Eben Mathis, Lachlan Allen, and Colton Vaughn; sisters, Juanita Walker and Roberta Eckerd. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 24 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at the residence.
