Reidsville: Wallace Anne Waynick Patterson, 11081 US Hwy 158 West went home to be with The Lord on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2015, at Midway United Methodist Church with Rev. Jonathan Marlowe and Rev. Suzanne Michael officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 15 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6-8:00 PM and other times at the home.
Wallace Anne was born in Rockingham County to the late Roy and Ila Atkins Waynick. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and later received her Masters of Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was a longtime and faithful member of Midway United Methodist Church. She was very involved and active with the United Methodist Women over the years. Her love for children was evident throughout her long teaching career of 1st and 2nd grade students for almost 30 years. She retired from the Guilford County School system. She loved to travel and over their 19 years of marriage, she and Dougald saw 49 states, including 3 trips to Alaska and 9 trips to Canada.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Frances Faucette and her brother, Penn Waynick.
Survivors include her husband, Dougald Patterson of the home; step daughters, Mary Jo Numrick of Pennsylvania, Kim Sharpe and husband, Kevin and April Patterson of Sanford; 6 step grandchildren; brother, Wilbur “Bud” Waynick and wife, Patsy; sister, Marjorie Waynick Simpson all of Reidsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
