Walter W. "Bill" Baker

Reidsville: Walter W. “Bill” Baker, Jr., 89, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2015, at home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Chaplain Tripp Kimbrough officiating. Burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. Walter was born on May 20, 1926, in Lenoir County, NC to the late Walter W. Baker, Sr. and Pattie Collins Baker. He attended Duke University, N.C. State University and graduated from the University of Columbia in South Carolina. He married Charlotte Moricle on November 27, 1926. He loved to fish and swim, and loved watching movies. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Vera Baker. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Moricle Baker; his children, Johnny C. Baker and wife Penny, Walter W. Baker, III, and Alice B. Stump and husband Joseph “Joey”; his grandchildren, Charlotte Baker Turner and husband Brian, Cheryl Baker Stratton and husband William, Brooke Logan-Leigh Stump, Brooke Roberts and husband Josh and Alicia Baker Duke, and his great grandchildren, Tyler James “T.J.” Baker, Makayla Stratton, Billy Stratton, Summer Stratton, Kendyl Stratton and Wynter Roberts. A visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Home of Rockingham County, P.O.
