Waver Frances Thacker Newnam

Reidsville – Waver Frances Thacker Newnam, 87, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Morehead Nursing Center of Eden. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Newnam was born in Rockingham County where she lived all of her life. She was the daughter of the late James D. and Mary Ella Perkins Thacker. She was a loving wife, mother, homemaker, and gardener. She loved the outdoors, raising gardens, growing flowers and attending to her animals. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Community Baptist Church. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rufus Leonard Newnam; daughter, Phyllis Diana Newnam and brother, Willie F. Thacker. Waver is survived by one daughter, Debbie Newnam Dishmon and husband, Lee of Reidsville; three nephews who she referred to as “her boys”, Jerry, Larry and Joey Thacker; and her beloved pet, Katie. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Special thanks to the staff of Morehead Nursing Center for their loving care of Mrs. Newnam.
