Wilbur D. Talley

Reidsville- Wilbur D. Talley, 89, of 199 Manley Farm Road, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 ( the Anniversary of D-Day) at Highgrove Longterm Care Center.Graveside services will be held 2:00PM Friday, June 8, 2012 at Reidlawn Cemetery with Rev. Glenda Bennett officiating. Military rites will be performed by the Rockingham County Honor Guard.Wilbur was born in Rockingham County to the late Fred William and Laura Wall Talley. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Army, serving in Patton's 3rd Army in Europe. He was extremely patriotic and proud of his military service. He was self employed and a farmer. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Manley Talley and his son, Dale Talley and brothers, Houston Talley and Malcolm Talley.Survivors include his daughter, Gayle Talley Niemczura and husband, Joe; granddaughters, Krissy Niemczura and husband, David McCollum and Julie Niemczura- Aiken and husband, Scott; his great grandson, Aaron Dale McCollum; brother, Fred Talley and wife, Peggy and sister, Gloria "Shine" Woodson.There will be no formal visitation but the family will be at the home of Joe and Gayle Niemczura, 163 Manley Farm Road.Memorials may be made to the Rockingham County Library, 204 West Morehead Street, Reidsville, North Carolina 27320.
