Wiley John Gailey

Reidsville: Wiley John Gailey, 90, passed away at Carolina House on Friday, May 16, 2014. A funeral service will be held in his honor on Monday, May 19th at 2:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Reidsville. Mr. Gailey was a native of Alto, Georgia and was preceded in death by his parents Luther C. and Bessie Vincent Gailey and his wife, Elaine Holland Gailey and a sister Ruby Logan. He was retired from American Tobacco Company after nearly 40 years and he attended Faith Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and served in WW II and recalled in the Korean War and was a member of the 2nd Marine Airwing and his units were VMTB 222 and VMTB 252. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, two Purple Hearts and nine Presidential Unit Citations. He is survived by his son, Darryl Gailey and wife Deborah; sister, Ruth Ingram of Greensboro, and a half-sister Carolyn Law of Charlotte, NC. Visitation will be on Sunday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be available other times at 161 Rock Spring Drive in Reidsville. Memorials may be made to the Faith Baptist Church Building Fund at 7920 US Hwy 158, P.O. Box 2215, Reidsville, NC 27320.
