William Dillard Billingsley

Reidsville: William “Bill” Dillard Billingsley, Jr. of 1180 Mizpah Church Road went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Duke Medical Center in Durham. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Reidsville Alliance Church with Rev. Norm Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Pallbearers are Wayne Billingsley, Kenneth Billingsley, Roger Billingsley, Paul Pulliam, Donnie Priddy, David Severance, Terry Sutherland, Rodney Cook and Gary Turner. Honorary Pallbearers, Laura Billingsley, Rogerdale Billingsley, Holly Billingsley, Carter Severance, Reid Serverance, T.J. Davis, Brandon Pulliam, John Pulliam, Mindy Pulliam, Jessica Lasley, Jennifer Priddy, Cale Priddy, Kaitlyn Halbrook, Ashley and Jordan Doss. Mr. Billingsley was born in Rockingham County to the late William Dillard Billingsley and Norma Carroll Billingsley. He was an avid racing fan and also assisted two racing teams, York Racing Team and Rodney Cook Racing Team. He will be greatly missed by these two teams. The racing family at Ace Speedway will greatly miss him. He was a member of the Reidsville Alliance Church where he had served as Head Trustee and had operated the sound board. He also spearheaded fundraisers for “Hurricane Katrina” and “Wounded Warrior”. He formerly worked at Equity Meat and had owned and operated a restaurant in the Wentworth community. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his uncles, Charlie Billingsley, Johnny Pulliam, J. Frank Carroll, aunt, Doris Billingsley and cousin, Barry Billingsley. He was a heart transplant recipient in May 2007 and felt at that time God had put him here for a special reason. He was a great friend to so many people and tried to make a difference in their lives. Only time will tell how many lives Bill touched. In the past 6 months, his health deteriorated and he struggled, but never complained. This past week, he just wanted to make it until Christmas. He is survived by two sisters, Faith Billingsley, Brenda Williams and husband, Louis; one nephew, Matt Williams and wife, Michelle; great niece, Rebekah Williams and great nephew, Daniel Williams; aunts, Mildred Billingsley, Dot Pulliam, Oberia Vawter and husband, Ray of New Bern; uncles, J.T. Billingsley and wife, Louise; Phillip Carroll and partner, Gary Thrailkill of Concord; cousins, Wayne Billingsley and wife, Betty, Kenneth Billingsley and wife, Debra, Roger Billingsley and wife, Phyllis, Joyce Priddy and husband, Donnie, Paul Pulliam and wife, Christy, Diantha Serverance and husband, David, Judith Kelly, Cindy Sutherland and husband, Terry, Pam Price and husband, Joe, Suzanne Stockdreher and husband, Udo. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 6:00 – 8:00PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home. At other times they will be at Faith’s home, 1240 US Business 29, Reidsville.
