Reidsville: William P. “Billy” McGee, 84, of 117 Lake View Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Wesley Long Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, August 23, 2015, at Covington Wesleyan Church with Rev. Ralph Clayton and Rev. AC Palmer officiating. The burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens with Military Honors. The family will receive friends Saturday evening August 22 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Covington Wesleyan Church and other times the family will be at home.
Billy was a native of Guilford County and was the son of the late Howard and Della Marshall McGee. He was a longtime and faithful member of Covington Wesleyan Church. He was recognized as the Covington Wesleyan Man of the Year and the North Carolina Eastern District Man of the Year. He served faithfully as the President of the Covington Wesleyan Men for 15 years and he was a member of the North Carolina Church Extension and Evangelism Board. Billy served and retired from the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. His vocational career included his retirement from Big Apple Farm Supply and anything, any one needed help fixing. He was a gifted, innovative, hard working man. Most importantly, he was known as a man of truth and faith. He was a loving husband, father and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Taylor McGee of the home; his daughters, Debbie McGee Short and husband, Luke of Reidsville, Kathy McGee Hales and husband, Barry of Reidsville and Cheryl McGee of Greensboro; brother-in-law, Rayford Taylor; sister-in-law, Tennie Taylor both of Reidsville; a large extended family, his faithful church family and his many customers and friends at Big Apple.
