Reidsville- Mr. William Thomas Butler, 62, of Reidsville, most well known as “Billy,” passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014.
Billy was born on January 18th, 1952 in Rockingham County to the late Thomas S. Butler and Margaret McCollum Butler. He worked for the city of Reidsville as an engineering technician. He served his country in the National Guard Armory and was an avid outdoorsman, woodsman and nature lover. Billy enjoyed canoeing which was his favorite past time and where he spent most weekends. But he will be most remembered for his love of the Lord and his faithful dedication to his church, Sharon Baptist Church, where he was a life-long member. He served the church as a deacon, Sunday School director and as a member of the church choir. He was dearly loved by his family, friends and co-workers. His wife and children celebrate the legacy of their loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Butler of the home; son, Cory and his wife, Krystal; Allen and his wife Jodi; grandchildren, Olivia, Allyssa, and Elijah; 2 brothers, James and his wife, Brona; Paul and his wife, Ivey; sister, Anne Rodgers and her husband, John; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 27th, 2014 at two o’clock at Sharon Baptist Church. Rev. Tom Brown and Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from six until eight o’clock at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the family residence.
