William Wayne Childress

Reidsville: William Wayne Childress, 54, of 131 Loftis Road, died on Thursday, August 22, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Rudy Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Wayne was born in Rockingham County to the late William Hugh Childress and Annie Carter Weatherford. He was retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation and was a member of Oasis Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jonathan and Joey Childress; his grandparents Frank and Stella Carter, and John and Lucinda Childress. He is survived by his wife, Terri Childress of the home; son, Donny Childress and wife, Jessica of Reidsville; granddaughter, Madison Lynn “Punkin” Childress; sisters, Teresa Fields and husband Dennis, Brenda Krites and husband, Rick, Cindy Verdeck and husband, Chris; brothers Bobby Shelton and wife, Patricia, Mike Childress, and Hugh Childress, Jr. and many special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Saturday at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Memorial gifts may be made to the charity of the donors choosing.
