William Russell Draper

Reidsville: William Russell Draper, 91, passed away from this life at his home of 7523 U.S. 158 West. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Robertson and Rev. Dave Huggins officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the home. Russell was born in Rockingham County to the late Cannie and Maggie Purgason Draper. He retired from the American Tobacco Company after 40 years of service. Mr. Draper was an avid reader and enjoyed raising cattle and horses and attending auction sales. He served in the US Army as an MP (Military Police). Russell attended Calvary Baptist Church, where he loved the people dearly and enjoyed the services so much. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers: Edmond Draper, Hugh Draper, Roy Draper, Paul Draper and Charlie Draper; and one sister Mintora Brame. He is survived by his wife, Aileen Oakley Draper of 55 years; daughters Mary Jane Draper of Statesville and Ann Draper Boyte and husband Michael of Summerfield; step-daughter Brittany Boyte Wells; and special friends Misty and Jacob Crone. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church, 7860 NC Hwy 87 North, Reidsville, NC 27320.
