William Lovelace Durham

Ruffin: Mr. William Lovelace “Bill” Durham, 76, of 491 Berry Hill Bridge Rd., Ruffin passed on Tuesday, January 13th, 2015, at his home. Mr. Durham was born in Pittsylvania County, VA, on May 15th, 1938, to the late Wesley A. and Vivian Yeatts Durham. He spent most of his life in North Carolina. He attended Mayfield Baptist Church. He retired from Overnite Transportation after 37 years. He was proud of his Three Million Mile safe driving awards. He loved to raise a vegetable garden for his family and friends. He was a very loving father, grandfather and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Barbara Fuquay Durham, and a brother, Louis Durham. Survivors include his sons, Dennis Durham and wife Jane of Pelham, Gary Durham and wife Allison of Chatham, VA; his daughters, Lisa Dodd and fiancé Ricky of Cascade, VA and Dianne Sossoman and husband Buck of Rockingham County; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; his brother, Louis Durham, Jr. of Providence; his sisters, Judith Arnold of Danville, VA and Betty Ware of Danville, VA; numerous nieces and nephews and special friend Rose Overby. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 16th, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at Wilkerson Funeral Home, with Rev. Johnny Dyer and Rev. Jimmy Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at the funeral home.
