William "Eddie" Edward McCollum

Madison: William “Eddie” McCollum, 77, of 140 Massey Creek Road, passed away in his home on Thursday September 22, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Hospice Chaplain Vicki Lumpkin officiating. Burial will follow at Smyrna Presbyterian Church Cemetery. William was born on December 17, 1938, in Rockingham County to the late William Clarence and Helen Meador McCollum. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Guilford College. He was a Metallurgy Engineer and Director of Quality Assurance with Intermet Corporation. He held several leadership positions with National Foundry Associations. He was an avid golfer, playing on the Pro-Am circuit and was very proud of playing with many pro golfers. He was passionate about his hobbies including photography and woodworking. Bill was a history enthusiast and enjoyed day tripping to various historical sites with his family. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Everett McCollum and son, Michael Glenn McCollum. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Faye McCollum; sons, Garland McCollum and wife Ruby and Chris McCollum; daughters, Pam Glisson and husband Carlos, Kim Gordon and husband Jeff and Tammy Bognar and husband Steve; grandchildren, Phillip, Justin, Elise, Brooke, Christian, Aiden and Ethan; great grandchildren, Ryland and Tyler. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Saturday, September 24th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times the family will be at the home.
